On Sunday morning, my darling wife ran her first triathlon. A half-mile swim, 12 mile bike, and 3 mile run. And a whole heck of a lot of training to prepare for it.
Over the past several months, she has dedicated herself to racquetball, weightlifting, running, biking, swimming, walking … you name it, almost anything to better her condition.
Her goal was to complete the race in two hours. She beat that by nearly fifteen minutes. In her first triathlon. On a cold and rainy morning.
I am so proud of her.
I have to give a shout out to the Kitsap Tri Babes, the group of a hundred or so women from our area who have met every Saturday and Tuesday
for the last several months to train together, inspire each other, and encourage each other through the difficult moments of Sunday’s race.

Oh Wow! I am with you Eric, so proud of her. She has really done well and to beat her time by 15 minutes is really something. I know I was overwhelmed at what she was doing when she told me when I was out visiting. I can tell you that I could never ever do that nor be that dedicated. She is absolutely amazing!!
Love you guys,

Eric,
YAHOOOOO!!!!! What a sister I have. We are all sooo proud of her too. However, you deserve some CUDOS too. You are always there for her to support her and love her,and I thank you for that. I love you both.

Eric and Tara,
I am so proud of you both, it takes two to complete a triathlon, the athlete and the person who supports her. Well done both of you. A glass of wine is raised to you both.
Tara:
That’s so awesome! Great job! Way to stick to the training! You’re an inspiration to the rest of us slugs! Keep at it and remember this,…when pain and fatigue strike, keep smiling at what you’ve already accomplished!

Wow, I second the inspiration to us slugs! I was starting with a low, low goal of walking 1/2 hour a day.
Great job! I want to see pictures of you crossing the finish line!

Hey girlfirend! What an inspiration you are! I loved every minute of standing in the rain watching you come in off the bike, and then coming across the finish line. Congrats on your second tri and good luck on your third one in two months -this weekend I believe!!! Alexi proudly wears her supporter t-shirt and I have caught her braggin about her “Aunt Tara” being a triathlete!
Hello,.
Do we have another triathlon this week end? I think that is what Kris and Jim’s note says. I do believe you are absolutely awesome, both of you. Mike and I love you!.
